Cape Town traffic update for Monday 26 October
During the morning rush-hour, a head-on collision between a Toyota Quantum minibus and a sedan caused abject carnage on a key artery to the N7. The incident occurred on Melkbosstrand Road, and it has caused a significant backlog of traffic:
- The M19 between N7 and Melkbosstrand has been cordoned off.
- Melkbosstrand Road is closed in both directions
- Furthermore, the busy Mamre Road exit has also been shut-off.
- We are expecting an update soon on when the roads will be reopened.

We’ve been told that the SA Police Service (SAPS) have also arrived on the scene, as they desperately try and piece together what lead to such a deadly collision. First responders at the crash site in Melkbosstrand revealed that there had initially been seven fatalities – but that total was revised to eight just moments ago. The injuries reported range from moderate to critical.
