Michael and I knew of each other and became friends from when we attended John Ehret High School.
In December of 2012, Michael was duck hunting with a buddy. He previously asked me on a date but I was unsure as the both of us had just gotten out of rocky relationships. He asked me one more time to go on a date but was unsure of why I didn’t respond after quite sometime. He said to himself, “I’ll ask her again and if she says no then at least I tried.” He then noticed his message didn’t go through and resent it. I immediately said YES! On December 23, 2012 we went on our first date to the movies. We don’t even remember what movie we saw since we were laughing and talking so much. Our second date was Christmas Eve to Christmas in the Oaks where we spent 4 hours laughing, cutting up and making fools out of ourselves. Thereafter, we stayed together for 8 more months but then split. After a year of dating others and growing, we came back together. Michael was studying to get his captain license and I nearly had a life or death experience of liver failure. Throughout my stay at the hospital, Michael kept in touch with me. He joked with me, constantly asked how I was doing and made sure I was never down. He often told me he was praying for me to get better. He asked me if once I got out of the hospital and was getting better to go out, if I would go on a date with him to rekindle. I said yes, yet again! After 2 weeks of dating, we became boyfriend and girlfriend again on September 28, 2014.
After 3 years of dating and conquering our careers, Michael and I decided to buy our first home together knowing this commitment also meant marriage. On June 30, 2017 we purchased our home.
After sometime went, him and I spoke of engagement. He had me pick out several different rings from our local jeweler, Breaux’s Jewelry. On a Saturday after fishing, he picked out my ring. The following Thursday he asked my parents for permission to marry me and they said yes. Without hesitation, he picked up the ring that same night for plans of his proposal on Saturday. Saturday morning was a normal day for me, Michael fishing in the morning and me doing normal house chores. He called me right after his fishing trip and told me to drop whatever I was doing and to meet him at Joe’s Landing to go bass fishing. He sure knows I’m a sucker to go bass fishing! I arrived at Joe’s Landing and we went out, just him and I. I didn’t expect ANYTHING. As soon as he stopped the boat, I threw out the line to catch a sweet bass. As he was behind me, he told me, “Give me your pole back, I have the secret bait.” As I turned he was down on one knee and asked me if I would marry him. While ugly crying and legs trembling I said YES!
Some say I’m the calm to his crazy and he’s the crazy to my calm.💗
